ARMOR

¿WHAT IS ARMOR?

1. Concept

The ability of different materials to block the penetration of high and low velocity objects within a specific, protected area. Its effectiveness is limited by its level. A. S. I. combines the highest professionalism with the best materials according to protocols established in laboratories in Israel, Holland, U.S.A. and Germany. Polyethylene and steel are used in plaques to offer protection against assault rifles.

Before...

Armor in all points

2. Tests

The ability of the materials is approved only in authorized laboratories and under strict control standards from which different factors are obtained.

Example:

1. Projectile speed

2. Projectile weight

3. Quantity of explosive

1. Time

2. Movement

3. Blocking capacity

4. Weight

Precision

Then... maximum discretion

3. Materials:

Materials have been tested thermally, for best resistance and durability. Steel and special polyethylene plaques guarantee the best security to the occupants of the vehicle.

4. Windows:

Windows are sometimes tested for resistance with three shots from 10 to 15 meters away, attempting to hit a triangle about 3 inches per side. If there is no penetration, the glass is approved. These tests are performed with a caliber that is adequate to the level of armor of the glass.

Materials used for windows

·         A combination of glass and polycarbonate approximately 31 to 38 mm thick

·         Factories being used: Agp and Princeton England.

5. Materials, arms and levels

Approved materials for doors and inside the vehicle:

·         Famston (1 inch)

·         Espectra

·         6 to 8 mm steel

·         Ceramics

Levels of armor

Since there are two different standards (U.S.A. and Europe) it is better to talk about levels of arms and not armor.

There are two basic levels:

1.      to block 9 mm and .357 Magnum

2.      to block M-16 (5.56mm) and AK-47 (7.62mm)

If these two are used, there should be no confusion.

Use of armor and armored tires

Once we understand the concept and the tests which are performed on the materials, we have a couple of seconds to leave the place where the attack is taking place, but of course, we must have adequate tires.

Recommended vehicles

The vehicle should have the following characteristics:

·         V-8 engine

·         Four doors

·         Recent model

·         Mechanical springs

Important note: certain systems must be added to the vehicle:

·    Springs

·    Speaker systems

·    Smoke system

·    Tear gas

·    High intensity lights

·    All of this depends on the needs of the client.

Makes of Vehicles Recommended for armor:

1.  Chevrolet

=

Yukon, Sonora

2.  Ford

=

Explorer, Excursion

3.  Jeep

=

Cherokee

4.  Toyota

=

Land Cruiser

5.  Mercedes

=

ML 400, J-500

6.  BMW

=

X5

Note: the vehicles will lose all factory warranties the moment they are armored

Recommendation: if the vehicle will be used on muddy roads it is recommended that it be four wheel drive.

Most important recommendation:

We suggest that the vehicle be armored to block M-16 and AK-47 gunfire.

The above are the most important, albeit very general factors for armoring a vehicle.  We would be pleased to give you more information about armoring vehicles.
